AQUATIC THERAPY

Aquatic Therapy is a great addition to traditional on-land therapy. Aquatic Therapy uses the properties of water to provide an opportunity to move in ways the child may not yet be able to on land as it creates an environment where the demands of gravity are decreased. The water also provides increased strength training while moving against the resistance of the water and provides deep pressure to the child’s body to help increase regulation and body awareness. The pool is a fun and playful environment to naturally motivate the child through their therapy session.

DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention)

DMI is a therapeutic technique used in physical therapy to treat children with motor delay by improving automatic postural responses and promoting progress towards developmental milestones. The goal of DMI is to provoke a specified active motor response from the child in response to defined dynamic exercises prescribed by the therapist. This comprehensive intervention incorporates current research on neurorehabilitation, technologies, and methodologies. DMI stimulates neuroplasticity to facilitate new neuronal connections and development of motor milestones. We are Intro Level C certified.

GALILEO VIBRATION THERAPY (Whole body vibration)

Whole body vibration is a therapeutic tool used to improve muscle strength, endurance, balance, postural control, body awareness and at certain frequencies can reduce spasticity. The vibration created by the plate activates the muscles to contract and relax multiple times per second increasing functional gains. The Galileo Vibration Plate is different from other vibration plates in that the platform works like a seesaw with side-alternating movement, inducing rhythmic muscle contractions stimulating a movement pattern similar to human gait.

PRIMITIVE REFLEX INTERVENTION

Primitive reflexes are automatic, involuntary early motor patterns that are present in newborns and infants that can persist in children with neuromuscular involvement. Retained primitive reflexes can interfere with motor development and functional movements. Performing specific exercises helps to stimulate the nervous system, allowing for integration of the reflexes and development of coordinated movement patterns.

ELECTRICAL STUMILATION (TASES)

Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation is a non-invasive therapy tool that provides mild electrical impulses to provide sensory input and stimulation of muscles to improve strength and function. TASES (Task Specific Electrical Stimulation) targets specific muscle while engaged in task specific functional movements to improve strength and motor control.

THERA TONGS

TheraTogs are a soft, flexible orthotic garment with a strapping system designed to provide sensorimotor input to the wearer to improve postural alignment and stability, which in turn, can promote improved functional movements. The strapping system is adaptable and adjustable to each individual, allowing the ability to provide just the right amount of support or facilitation for maximum function specific to each wearer.

KINESIOTAPE

Kinesiotape is a therapeutic tape that has an elastic quality to it. Depending on the application technique, the tape can be used to facilitate or inhibit muscle activation. The application of the tape provides postural and sensory input allowing for therapeutic facilitation that lasts outside of the therapy session.

DIR® -FCD Model

The Developmental, Individual Difference, Relationship-based (DIR®) model provides a developmental framework for interdisciplinary assessment and intervention for individuals with autism and other developmental and mental health challenges. It is a comprehensive foundation model that utilizes affect-based interactions and experiences tailored to individual needs to promote development.
